Unilever Sustainability & Utilities Workshop
March 21-22, 2016 in Amsterdam
Gabriel Reggio, Procurement Director, Capex and MRO
Exclusive Workshop with the world's third-largest consumer goods company
Unilever is the world's third-largest consumer goods company measured by revenue, after Procter & Gamble and Nestlé. InterPartner assisted Unilever during a one-year period in defining objectives and scope for outsourcing, evaluating strategic outsourcing partners, and facilitating a process leading to pilot projects. In this context new sustainability technologies were considered as well.
By outsourcing of utilities – such as boilers, CHP, steam plants, power, gas, compressed air, refrigeration, water supply, waste water treatment – to selected outsourcing partners, Unilever can achieve several strategic advantages:
• More focus on core business
• Reducing capex
• Increasing energy and water efficiency
• Reducing operational cost
• Reducing complexity of suppliers
The Unilever Sustainability and Utilities Workshop was completed in March 2016 in Amsterdam, where selected Unilever teams - supply chain, procurement, sustainability and finance executives - had dialogues with potential outsourcing and sustainability providers to see how well they can support this strategy. Feedback from these teams was key input for InterPartners recommendation to Unilever management.
