Founded in 1865 with a single grain storage silo, Cargill has grown to be one of the largest privately-owned companies in the world. Employing 160,000 people in 70 countries, across many different markets and industries, including Agriculture, Food and Industrial applications.
Cargill produces a wide variance of food & feed products in large quantities, which need to be dewatered while maintaining functional and nutritional properties. Innovation in mechanical and thermal dehydration technologies has a great potential value for enhancing future product development while also improving the competitiveness of current Cargill products, like lowering operational costs and CO2 emissions.
This summit focused on identifying, selecting, developing, designing and implementing state-of-the-art and best-fit-for-purpose (novel) dehydration technologies.
In light of the recent worldwide pandemic, the Summit was hosted virtually over two days, enabling everyone to join from a safe distance. The event was a mix of both on-demand presentations and live break-out meetings between the Cargill teams and participating vendors.
Cargill participated with 35+ key executives from R&D, Technology and Engineering, presenting the Starch & Sweeteners, Oil Seed, Cocoa and Salt divisions of their business.
“We had a successful virtual Dehydration Summit, generating contacts with companies we did not work with before, and generating new ideas with companies already known to us. Several projects are now being worked out, and this will help us further evolve towards our 2025 target of reducing in absolute terms our Green House Gas emissions by 10%. It has been a great experience, and we are looking into setting up similar summits in the future."
