Founded in 1865 with a single grain storage silo, Cargill has grown into one of the world’s largest privately-owned companies, with 160,000 employees operating in 70 countries across industries such as Agriculture, Food, and Industrial applications.
Cargill produces a wide range of food and feed products that require advanced dewatering processes to preserve both functional and nutritional properties. Innovations in mechanical and thermal dehydration technologies offer significant potential for enhancing future product development, lowering operational costs, and reducing CO2 emissions—key priorities for Cargill’s sustainability goals and market competitiveness.
This summit focused on identifying, evaluating, and implementing state-of-the-art dehydration technologies tailored to Cargill’s diverse product needs.
In response to the global pandemic, the 2020 Summit was held virtually over two days, ensuring safe participation through an interactive format. Attendees engaged through a combination of on-demand presentations and live breakout sessions, enabling focused discussions between Cargill’s teams and innovative technology vendors.
Cargill brought together over 35 executives from R&D, Technology, and Engineering representing their Starch & Sweeteners, Oil Seed, Cocoa, and Salt divisions. This collaborative summit enabled Cargill to explore cutting-edge dehydration solutions while building strategic partnerships aligned with their goals in innovation and sustainability.
“We had a successful virtual Dehydration Summit, generating contacts with companies we did not work with before, and generating new ideas with companies already known to us. Several projects are now being worked out, and this will help us further evolve towards our 2025 target of reducing in absolute terms our Green House Gas emissions by 10%. It has been a great experience, and we are looking into setting up similar summits in the future."
